Joannie Suina Romero is from the Pueblo of Cochiti, New Mexico. She is the Owner + Founder of Corn Pollen Consulting, LLC., a Native Woman-owned business providing culturally-responsive strategies for creative community building. Romero serves as the Executive Director for the Laguna Community Foundation based out of the Pueblo of Laguna, New Mexico.
Romero is the beautiful blending of her Puebloan and Irish Roots. She stands beside her community as a daughter, mother, auntie, and culture revitalizer. Romero attended the University of New Mexico where she earned a B.A in Native American Studies and later attended the University of Tulsa, College of Law where she earned a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education at the University of Washington, Tacoma in the Muckleshoot EdD Program. She is focusing her research on Healing-Informed Leadership Practices by illuminating the importance of Matriarchal roles as the center of healthy and regenerative economies.
Romero is also a proud NMCC Native Entrepreneur In Residence Graduate (NEIR) Program.
