TruTouch Tech Ready to Grow in 2008

TruTouch Technologies light-based alcohol measurement devices had their first commercial sales in 2007, with a projected $1.7 million in sales. TruTouch, an NMCC portfolio company, expects continued growth in 2008 with expansion into workplace alcohol testing and identity verification.

Albuquerque technology company receives research grant

TruTouch Technologies Inc. in Albuquerque has been awarded $218,000 as part of a Small Business Innovation Research grant to assist in research involving the measurement of blood alcohol. "The TruTouch research has the potential to develop a method of blood alcohol testing that will dramatically increase the health safety of law enforcement and treament center employees," says Sen. Pete Domenici, R-NM, in the release.

The two lead investors in the state's first community development venture capital fund have upped their commitments to the fund, which principals say they hope will eventually close at $10 million. Wells Fargo Bank (NYSE: WFC) has increased it commitment to New Mexico Community Capital (NMCC) by 50 percent, to $750,000. And the New Mexico Small Business Investment Corp. (NMSBIC) has agreed to match, dollarfor- dollar, all investment commitments that are made between now and when the fund closes at $10 million.
